Traditions Day has finally come. Considered my first real day of work as a cast member for The Walt Disney World company! I woke up nice and early this morning to make sure I had plenty of time to catch the bus at 8;00am to the training building for new cast members called Disney University.

Mainly a classroom training day, I was able to meet more Canadians who will be starting in the Canada Pavilion in Epcot as well. I also received my first pair of mickey ears as a welcome gift for joining the company. I learned about the history and values of Disney-world as well as what makes them stand out against everyone else. We also went through just how large the company is covering all aspects of film, television, entrainment, parks, resorts and animation.

The best part of the day took place after lunch when we took a bus to Magic Kingdom Park. I was able to enter through the cast entrance and received a mini tour of the park highlighting how the theming within the parks engage all 5 senses. We arrived at Magic Kingdom during quite a busy time while a parade was happening, so we quickly stopped for photos at the castle before having 10 spare minutes to explore on our own. I walked around Tommorowland and saw the new massively popular ride called Tron . I have to admit, it does look like a pretty cool ride, but an HOURS long wait is pretty overwhelming.

I finished my day by having the one and only Mickey Mouse drop by our class and present us our new name tags! Since this is the 100 year anniversary of Disney, my name tag is a limited edition 100 year version. Once this celebration is over later this year I will receive a new name tag.

Today was a very tiring and exciting day learning all about the company while also getting a backstage pass to the parks. I really enjoyed it and tomorrow the fun continues with a shorter but still fun day!

Talk soon

That's really cool that the name tag also says where you are from in Canada. Sounds like a fun day!
