Hi, how are you? I know, I know, it has been a long time since i've last posted. But here we are, back again! I have finally felt motivated enough to make my way to Starbucks, order my fun coffee and recap everything that has been going on in my life at DISNEY!
Since Mom and Dad have left the sunshine state my mini vacation has been over and it's back to the life that feels like a... Mini vacation :)
I was able to attend a cast-member exclusive final ride of one of Epcot's most popular attractions Test Track before it goes down for refubisments for at least one year! My last time riding Test Track :(
My Taylor Swift 22nd birthday was on July 5th and happened to land on my normal day off. So taking full advantage, I went out for brunch with Saveena and Carmen to the Grand Floridian Cafe. One of Disney's nicest hotels, this restaurant DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I decided to have an amazing fruit bowl filled with kiwi's, berries, mango and bannana, topped with a coconut sorbet! Absolutely delicious. Definitely one of my favourite things I have had in Disney. Carmen also surprised me by telling our server it was my birthday and giving me a birthday button and a mini orange cake slice.
We unfortunately had to drop Saveena off at work, but Carmen and I stayed in Epcot and rode my favourite ride Guardians of the Galaxy before getting my free Starbucks drink. That night we practiced our line dances before heading out to Orlandos southern bar Cowboys. Since it was my birthday, all my friends get in for free and receive one free drink coupon and I received two free drink coupons. No need to brag but I can line dance to Cotton Eyed Joe... I know, very impressive. Definitely a unforgettable 22nd birthday, all that was missing was Taylor Swift herself telling me I'm feeling 22!
July was filled with birthdays because just a couple days later it was Saveena's birthday. We headed out to Epcot for brunch in the Morrocco pavilion. A delicious appetizer setting, we had a beautiful view of world showcase while we snacked on my favourite middle eastern cuisine. The best being a feta and spinach filled phyllo pastry.
A few days later I went to see Inside Out 2 with a couple girls from work at Disney Springs. A way better movie than I was expecting, it was filled with nuances for adults to relate to about how overwhelming life can feel at times. This movie definitely came out at the perfect time for me as life is feeling a bit overwhelming right now. I thought it was a very well written, emotional yet funny movie. One of the best Disney has created in a while. We left the theatere right when a thunderstorm had finished and a beautiful sunset rainbow had emerged.
My days off lately have consisted of solo park days mainly, which I have grown to enjoy. I usually wander around the different parks, eat and shop. My favourite lately has been Animal Kingdom. I enjoy looking at all the wildlife and they have one of my favourite quick service meal spots. I always enjoy getting their crispy tofu bowl for dinner. Plus Animal Kingdom is usually a lot quieter than the other parks. I still spend the most time at Epcot though. My favourite park to shop at with all the different countries stores and the most variety of food.
I completely forgot that the Olympics were happening this year until they began! My leadership team has started a fun incentive for cast members to commemorate the Olympics. Between the attractions teams in Canada and France our leaders are giving out "medals" to cast-memebers who are preforming at there jobs best. Let's be honest, the real reason they're doing this is because the French cast-members struggle with being "nice to guests" and they're hoping these paper medals will change the entire morale at Ratatouille. Nonetheless, the top 5 highest preforming cast-members in both Canada and France will win a free minigolf session at Disney! I want to go minigolfing!!
Yesterday I recived my first medal for being a great greeter. No need to brag but I'm a pro at smiling and waving at guests. Luckily my leaders did not witness when a group of VERY drunk guests thought the theatre would be the perfect place to get their next drink. When I had to break the news to them they called me a "cute satan". I also had a different guest try tipping me a whole 50 cents and telling me to come visit him in Mexico before demanding I give him my Instagram so he can contact me if he ever comes to Canada. I feel I should've deserved a medal just for having to deal with that weird man. But I guess we will see who wins a free round of minigolf. Stay tuned...
On Friday I have a very exciting event. I won a backstage tour of one of Disney's most popular rides. Apparently one of the best backstage tours on property. No spoilers, you're going to have to wait until my next blog... Hopefully it's worth waking up at 4:00am for!
I hope you're doing OK. Thank you again for reading all the way down to the end. I appreciate you!
Talk soon
(I mean it this time)
