Officially Official

I know, I know it’s been a while since I’ve wrote here. I have been BUSY since starting as an official cast member. Let me catch you up on what’s been happening…

After Traditions day I had two more training days where I had a tour of Epcot and learned about the safety and five keys to the success of Disney. On Saturday I had my first on the job training day where I finally received my costume (photos to come soon!), as well as met my trainers Saveena and Nick, both from Canada and both also working in the attraction. The attraction I’m working at in the Canada pavilion in Epcot is called Canada Far and Wide and is a 12 minute video showcasing Canada on 360 degree screens in a theatre.

I learned the four different positions I will be working...

Position 1 - Greeter - Pretty self explanatory, the greeter welcomes guests into the pre-show room where they wait for the next showing.

Position 2 - Preshow - A fun position to work, you speak in front of the guests telling them about where you’re from in Canada and what to expect during the show.

Position 3 - Theatre - After giving a safety speech I then wander around the theatre during the show making sure everyone is being safe and respectful.

Position 4 - Kidcot- The most guest service position, Kidcot is an activity for kids where they go around the world showcase collecting cards and stamps from all the countries. I tell them a bit about Canada and hand them an activity book.

So far my shifts have been mainly in the evening/night sometimes ending at midnight. I have quite enjoyed the experience so far and everyone on my team seems quite nice and helpful. I am officially on day 7 in a row of training/working so it has been quiet tiring and busy. I’m excited to become more and more comfortable with each position and finally start getting into a routine for my days here.

Mom and I enjoyed going to Cast Connections yesterday. This warehouse store is exclusively for cast members / one guest and is full of discounted Disney merchandise as well as props from different attractions throughout the parks. I picked up a new bowl with pictures of all the Disney dogs and a cute Star Wars Christmas sweater. I'll definitely be going back a lot!

Exciting news! I was able to pick up my main entrance pass yesterday allowing me unlimited access into any four Disney Parks for me to enjoy on my days off. When I eventually get a day I’m very excited to finally start exploring the parks!!
