Getting Settled

so it's been a few days. Let's recap, shall we? Mom left on Saturday which means I am now living at Flamingo Crossings Village full time. Before Mom left we had a second park day at Animal Kingdom where we rode the safari and looked at all the animals including two baby gorillas playing with each other just like human boys would. It was very cute!
Luckily both Saturday and Sunday I kept my mind off Mom leaving because I had two 10.5 hour work days. I've never had a work shift so long before. It was definitely tiring but my job is still going well. A group of Canadian guests approached me with a candy bag filled with Canadian candy (Coffee Crisp, Aero and Smarties) to remind me of home. It was so sweet (literally) of them!I'm enjoying all the different positions I get to work, especially greeting. I have always loved people watching, and greeting is pretty much getting paid to people watch, smile and wave.
Sleeping on the other hand has been difficult. Back home, my bedroom is super quiet. All I hear back home is the occasional creaking of the house and Truffle scratching her crate. Here on the other hand is way less quiet. The other night my roommate had people over throughout the night in the kitchen using a blender. Unfortunately that's not an exaggeration (I wish it was), Needless to say I slept minimal that night. I don't know why they decided it would be a good idea to crack open the blender at 2:30am. Late night smoothies anyone? The hustle and bustle outside my window at night is also a constant reminder that I'm pretty much a grandma when I'm in bed by 11:00pm. Hopefully as time goes on I will adjust with sleeping through more noise.
I also made my first proper dinner for my self last night. Now that might seem like a small task but being in a new kitchen was a whole adventure on its own. I successfully made one of my favourite dinners from back home, a butter bean, coconut and spinach dip for crackers after spending way too long figuring out the electric stovetop.
As I write this blog post now, I don't work until 4:30-11:15pm tonight so I've spent my day exploring around the campus and heading up to the MASSIVE fitness centre to get back into the routine of going on walks on the treadmill. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought. I just listened to music and walked on the beat of the songs for 45 minutes. Plus the view out the gym overlooks the pool and palm trees.
Well I guess that's all I got for now. I'm really trying to get into a proper routine so hopefully I will feel more at home and comfortable in the coming days.
I hope you're well
